Many Counselling approaches blend together. Here is an overview of the Evidence-Based Models I use in my Practice:
The focus of counselling is to create an environment of trust and rapport so that each person can feel respected and hopeful. I know that for change to happen first people need to feel heard and understood. I will assist you to express and connect with your whole Self: thoughts, behaviours, feelings, and beliefs.
From this basis of self-discovery I will assist you in identifying clear goals on changes you are able to make. We will then develop a plan for making those changes. You will gain the skills and strategies to achieve greater mastery over your thoughts and actions.
Counselling can assist you in addressing current struggles such as a parenting issues or surviving a loss. Counselling may also provide you with a means to uncover and address longstanding issues that have impacted your current functioning. Many of us have experienced hardships which impact our lives on a daily basis. Learn how to connect with your emotions without being trapped by them. Manage anxiety and stress in meaningful ways so that you can meet the demands of your life with courage and resilience.
The timing varies for people. Many find that a particular issue can be effectively addressed in 2-8 sessions. I commit to efficient and effective support. I adhere to the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Associations Ethical Guidelines. See CCPA
